Family Law Attorneys in Appleton, WI
Family Law Practice at Hoff, Claringbole & Quigley, LLP
In serving our clients’ family law needs, we represent and assist our clients with a broad range of issues. We represent clients seeking a legal separation or divorce. We help them through the divorce process from initiating the action to completing the necessary paperwork that comes with the division of assets upon the completion of the process. Child custody and placement, child support, spousal maintenance (often called alimony), and property division are addressed in an action for divorce or legal separation.
What if changes occur after a Court order?
If circumstances change after entry of a final judgment, we are here to represent our clients in post-judgment actions including modifying orders for child support, spousal maintenance (often called alimony), and child custody and placement.
Child Custody & Physical Placement
Child custody and the Court's physical placement order for a minor child are determined by what is in a child’s best interest. While the law states that an order should maximize the time children have with each parent, this does not necessarily mean an equal sharing of time.
Child support is most often calculated according to guidelines established by the Department of Children and Families.

Modifications of Child Support Orders
If placement schedules change or if incomes change, a party may seek a modification of a support obligation, and we assist our clients in seeking a modification of a prior order when such changes occur.
In our family law practice, we also represent clients who seek a restraining order or need to defend against a petition for a restraining order. We have experience with both harassment and domestic violence restraining orders and work with family court orders to make sure the requirements of the restraining order or injunction align with the family court order.
Parent, Stepparent, Grandparent, Guardian Visitation
As part of our commitment to meeting our client’s family law needs, we also represent parents, stepparents, grandparents and guardians when legal assistance is needed in establishing the rights of third parties to visitation and/or care and custody of a minor child.
